Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend – So Find Out Where To Buy Them

finals-040.jpgYou’ve heard this saying time and time again. Well, where there’s smoke there’s fire…So, this saying must hold some clout!

Ladies and gentleman…I “stumbled upon” a website that looks to have some absolutely amazing deals on Online Jewelry.

I started looking around for something special for my mother for Mother’s Day this year, (which is May 11th people!!!) and browsed their Black Pearl Rings and Diamond Pendants sections…my mother is a lady of distinction naturally… :)

However, wow, they have everything here from rings, pendants, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces of all types, including sets and men’s jewelry (don’t forget Father’s Day, June 15th, is right around the corner from Mother’s Day).

I got going at that point looking at jewelry for my mother, husband, maybe even me…LOL…

I was very appreciative of the great sorting options at the MyJewelryBox.com site…You can look things up by gender, price, metal type, stone type, categories like rings or bracelets etc…They even have a serious liquidation page.

Worried about buying items online? The site shows that they provide secure check-out.

Worried about buying something and you won’t like it, or it won’t be as nice as it looked in the photo online? You can return your jewelry within 30 days…that’s their policy.

They also show that they will gift package your items for free, and will provide free Fed-Ex shipping for any order over $99.

As you may know, one of my biggest pet peeves online is when you are ordering something and a website does not provide you with any toll-free customer service numbers or a physical address. Not a Problem here…They give a toll-free number at the top of the page, which you can even call on weekends, and 2 physical addresses: 1 for the USA, and 1 for Canada! They also have a customer service email you may use.

So, if you’re looking for Wholesale Jewelry online, at prices you can afford, where there are beautiful items of jewelry, not just the scraps, this Continue Reading…

Earth Hour 8pm-9pm Local Time Tonight – Be There!

This is a post I made on my ExoticAnimalLover.com blog today, but it is so important, I had to share it with our Blog N’ Butter Blog Network!

***

earth-hour-60.jpgWho?: YOU! Everyone around the world
What?: http://www.earthhour.org/
When?: March 29, 2008, 8pm your local time
Where?: In your own home and/or workplace
Why?: To create AWARENESS about energy consumption
Hosted By?: World Wildlife Fund

*** PLEASE READ THE INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE ASKING WHERE THIS EVENT IS TAKING PLACE.

This happens in your home or your workplace at 8pm (your local time) on March 29th WHEREVER YOU ARE IN THE WORLD by simply turning off your lights, your TV, your dishwasher, your heating or a/c. You don’t have to be in Toronto (they won’t let me not put something in that spot) or a major city to participate.

On March 29th, 2008 at 8pm local time Earth Hour will commence ALL AROUND THE WORLD.

Created to take a stand against the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a POWERFUL MESSAGE about the need for action on global warming.

Be part of making Earth Hour 2008 a huge, global success by telling your friends and family. Remember, every single light makes a statement and makes a difference.

Last year, on 31 March 2007, 2.2 million people and 2100 Sydney (Australia) businesses turned off their lights for one hour – Earth Hour. This massive collective effort reduced Sydney’s energy consumption by 10.2% for one hour, which is the equivalent effect of taking 48,616 cars off the road for a year.

* Pledge your support for Earth Hour and find out more about the lights-out campaign at earthhour.org, the official website. http://www.earthhour.org

Try Games Free at this Cool Downloadable Computer Game Site

I was “Stumbling” around the net and found this really neat site where you can download Mac games or for Windows on your PC.

How many times have you gone to a store, bought a game for your computer, got it home, unwrapped it, tried it out, and you were completely unsatisfied?

What do you do?: Take it back to the store, right?

What do they say?: They can’t take it back because it’s already out of the package…How ridiculous, right?

What I like about this site is that you can download and play their games for free to make sure you really like the game before you buy it…If you don’t, go download another game and try it before you buy it! Great!

They seem to have a wide variety of windows and mac games that look to be extremely family friendly! Kudos!

I especially liked the reality tycoon games where you are a store owner or a big-wig somewhere…Nice!

Wi-Fi Signal Security for your Computer Network at Home

Check out this great post from the Your Laptop Today blog on the Blog N’ Butter Blog Network…

Reduce the Range of your Wi-Fi Signal for Security

laptop.jpg Great tips to reduce the range of your Wi-Fi to include just your house, instead of providing your entire neighborhood with a great Wi-Fi signal at your expense and your security!

You will have to deal with your router to modify the signal. Every router is different even inter-brand, so you’ll have to root around in the router settings and see what you can find to reduce radio transmission power. It will most likely be under some type of advanced settings.

Problem is, internet signal strength is rather fickle; if you haven’t already learned that, you are very fortunate and likely have an amazing internet connection. But for the rest of us that often struggle with dropped transmission, we understand.

Changing any settings may upset your whole Continue Reading…

Backgammon Is One of The Oldest Games in Existence

backgammonboard.jpgI was speaking with a friend today about the board game of Backgammon

This is a 2-player game that comes out of antiquity resembling a war-type game, that is governed by the roll of dice. The key is to remove all of your checkers from the board first or hit a pre-set score.

There is a fair bit of strategy involved in this game, rolled in a little bit of luck, by having to choose between a number of options after a roll of the dice, and anticipating your opponents moves as well! A little intuition, imagination, psychology and probabilities must all be taken into account.

I can’t remember ever playing the game, so I did a search and found a good website…

It’s for beginners to learn rules, tips, strategies and play either for fun. They can also speak to fellow players and chat in the http://www.backgammon.org forum. You can even ask an expert any question about the game, and you will get a personal Continue Reading…

Phishing on Social Networking Sites – How To Protect Yourself On MySpace

Today’s topic is about PHISHING!!!

It may have happened to you already…It has happened to me…(right on MySpace).

I just emailed a girl about one of her bulletins on MySpace, and she replied back to me saying that she did not post that bulletin. I gave her some immediate advice, from someone that has already been there…

1. MySpace does not really want to hear about it. They know it is out there, but they do give some instructions on what to do to fix the problem. What is done, is done now.

A. Change your password immediately (they don’t tell you this, but I will…Any other account you may have at a major “internet” zone, such as hotmail, yahoo, bank accounts, etc, etc, with the same login info (your email address and password) they will be able to access too if they are smart enough to go there. This is the advice MySpace gives out.

B. Go change the… To read more go to the post @ Social Networking Today.

Trying To Sell Your Old Boat To No Avail? Ever Thought Of Donating It?

yacht.jpgIf you are trying to sell your old boat, running or not, but have had no success, and just want to get rid of your headache?

Have you ever heard of BoatAngel.org? They are a ministry that takes donated boats and yachts, and converts them into significant value for many different, worthy charities.

You even get to choose the partner charity that your boat donation will assist.

You’re saying, “How do I benefit from giving my boat to donate?”, right?

Well, apart from helping children’s ministries anti-drug programs, teen boy rehabilitation homes, and providing uplifting books to prisons, you will also get full market value for your boat as a tax deduction, and assistance to help you submit it as such on your tax return.

Okay, sounds like a great thing to do…

How does this work? What do I do if I want to donate a boat?

1. Go to the BoatAngel.org website and either fill out the online form or call the toll-free phone number.

* Please note: They will only accept boat donations if you are in the United States of America.

2. A receipt will be emailed to you, and Boat Angel will send to you, via postal service, a disposable camera, for you to be able to take photos of your boat, and a form you will need to fill out.

3. Once BoatAngel.org receives the package back from you, they will Continue Reading…

Brand-Spankin’ New Discount Hotel Reservation Site

As my family and I travel a lot, I am forever looking for good deals online for travel and accommodations…

I happened to Stumble Upon a new website I hadn’t seen before that is a full-service discount travel site offering flights, vehicle rentals, vacation packages, cruises, and all types of hotel reservations at deeply discounted rates…They boast hotel discounts of up to 70% off the regular value, as shown below:

hotelreservations.gif

What I was impressed with was that they openly tell you that you can either book online or call their 800#…That’s a big deal to me…Many sites that give travel & hotel discounts don’t have great off-line customer service, but this site has it in big letters at the top, middle of the page with their 800#…

…That’s a pet peeve of mine, and I won’t buy travel tickets from a site that does not have their physical address and a customer service, toll-free phone number. This site goes above & beyond by having a toll-free number for the USA & Canada, one for Europe, a WorldWide number, and a number especially helpful for group bookings.

From what I see, they have a wide range of offers from hotels, motels, bed & breakfasts, resorts and vacation rentals…Personally, I was searching the vacation rentals and cruises…LOL

When you’re visiting a discount accommodation site, what really matters? The Discounts! Not only are the prices already discounted, but I see more “coupon-type” discounts on the page: An extra $ Continue Reading…

Ever Thought of Going to Fashion School? Cali’s All The Hype!

furcoatdownload.jpgI Stumbled upon a website today (add me as a friend on Stumble Upon), which seemed to be a one-stop shop for finding fashion schools. It got me thinking of a girl I coached in softball at UNI in Iowa, and she had a real drive to want to design clothing and accessories…She was great at it, and somehow she found spare time to create her own styles and designs…

Photo left: Kimberly Edwards…Yup…That’s me…Photo by Zdenka Micka, MUA Lorra Walter

That got me wondering…If I were a person interested in going to school for fashion and design, and I could study anywhere in North America, I would have to choose California…Los Angeles to be exact…

In thinking about it, going to one of the fashion schools in California would put you right in the middle of all the hubub in one of the largest fashion cities in the world!

New York would be my 2nd choice, but it’s way too cold in the winters…I know…I live in Niagara Falls, Canada…

Fashion schools in Los Angeles, in my opinion, would really launch the students with talent and motivation into the industry with tons of opportunities and connections to succeed. I mean, it’s Hollywood baby! A huge fashion mecca at it’s best!

Not only that, how exciting would it be to see a movie star or someone famous show an interest in your clothing line and your ideas!!! Wow! I would think that going to a fashion school in California could help put your foot in the door to just such a dream.

I wish I had the Continue Reading…

Cancer Newsflash:

It was reported late Wednesday afternoon that actor, Patrick Swayze, well known for his roles in “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost”, is dealing with a deadly form of pancreatic cancer.

Contradictory to the reports on Wednesday morning from the National Enquirer that gave the impression that Patrick only had 5 weeks to live, Patrick Swayze’s doctor, George Fisher of the Stanford Cancer Center, states, “Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far.”
