I read this column’s story about the fact that a Canadian University’s Research has cured a number of different cancers, and why no one is taking notice…
I encourage you to read it for yourself…It’s short and to the point:
Scientists cure cancer, but no one takes notice
Please let me know what you think…What are your stories are about this issue? Finally, let’s tell the world what we really think!

Wow. Scientists commit their lives to bringing better understanding and implementation of their research into real life applications. To dismiss the effort put-in by committed, intelligent individuals as concerted efforts to thwart the health of themselves or loved ones simply for the bottom line profitability of a drug company is insulting and paranoid.
Bloggers, on the other hand, can spread the ignorance of conspiracies without any basic understanding of the scientific process and basic medical knowledge. As patients deal with fear, depression, pain, confusion and anger with their diagnosis of cancer, you re-print this rubbish. What do you hope to accomplish? More paranoia about scientists and the medical community? Hope you make some money from your links with this post. Your behaviour is simply irresponsible.
For those patients looking for an understanding of why cancer is so difficult to cure, I want to assure you that there are many, many, many compounds which share the observations of killing cells as they are grown in a flask and many observations of killing of human cells injected into mice without immune systems. What is more difficult is to deliver the drug to these abnormal human cells in a functioning body with trillions of human cells in an attempt to kill those tumor cells selectively. There is some hope of teaching the body to recognize the tumor cells themselves and these are in various stages of controlled clinical trials. Just because someone claims that peach pits are the cure for cancer (Laetrile) doesn’t mean it is, no matter how wonderful this would be. Certainly nutrition and a positive approach to one’s illness are all matters a cancer patient should be focused on. As well as researching the clinical trials going on. Cancer therapy has improved tremendously over the past 20 years and will continue to improve.
Shame on you for continuing this ‘chain’ blog the way it was presented. Do some work and support the arguments or point out the deficiencies in the argument, but simply to link to this book without any discussion in your own blog is just irresponsible. However, you are helping to make this man a very rich person.
In Response to Deg’s Comment:
No doubt that scientists work tireless hours, and most of which, for the greater good of mankind…I, by no means, am attacking scientists and researchers…It is the drug companies and sponsors of this research, as they control what is released, what is not, and how they use the research that was uncovered.
Most times, scientists and researchers are funded by the drug companies…
However, before you “attack” me and my post, you must understand:
My father fought cancer twice; this past time, he lost his life to it after a long, difficult battle. The same week my father passed away, my mother found out she had cancer; so, cancer has been on our doorsteps for many years now, as she just finished her 2 yr long cancer treatment (http://blognbutter.com/cancer/2008/01/20/my-mother-has-graduated-from-cancer-treatment)…We have also lost many family members to different types of cancer…
We, collectively, as a family have observed and experienced the treatments that are being implemented today, as well as the MANY mistakes that were made with their treatment by the teams of doctors, and lack of knowledge when asked about certain cancer related topics and treatments…
Also, I have seen many people treated, not being in a clinical trial, with drugs that were not “approved”…and have seen people turned down for these treatments who could benefit from them…
No doubt, it is a difficult study to find cures to cancer, as they are mutating and changing, not to mention the many many different types of cancer that are rearing their ugly heads!
In all honesty, I have read Kevin’s book, and don’t find it far fetched…it could be taken as a little paranoid in places, but after what we have experienced over the past 12 yrs, nothing would really surprise me at this point with the medical “industry”…Medicine is a business today, unfortunately, and doctors just spew out what they’ve been taught…
I’m not sure how much research you have done into Kevin’s book, or if you have read it at all, but it is worth the read to hear his point of view and make a decision for yourself, as well as allowing others to do the same…
As for making him a rich person…Who cares? That’s going to stop someone from reading his book? People still buy Apple computers, gas for their vehicles, and watch Oprah…these things all make people very rich…
I could write a dissertation about the many things I have seen, heard and experienced that could very well fit into a “conspiracy theory”, but I will refrain for the length of this comment already…
To say that I am irresponsible in my posting, you need to do some homework on who it is you are attacking…I am not some uneducated nut just trying to make a buck by posting about anything…I, myself, have a Pre-Medicine degree, along with a minor in Chemistry…I understand science, and totally get the scientific process…
I personally choose what to post on my blogs…If this is the way I feel about things, I have a right to say it…that’s why it is my blog…
Also, I didn’t even post my opinion on the topic…I simply put it out there for people to read for themselves, and invited them to share their opinions, as you did…That’s why you got your forum to say what you wanted…
I appreciate everyone’s point of view…I just ask that you don’t “attack” people in this forum…
What do I hope to accomplish? Well, for starters, I would hope to instill a feeling of responsibility and ownership for one’s health and treatment of their conditions, instead of being sheep in a long line up with a number…It is important to be an advocate for your own treatment…Be involved, ask questions, do your own research, and focus on prevention.
People need to be a bit paranoid, I feel, to be sure they are standing up for themselves and keeping their eyes open…
Some people may not understand the desperation of some cancer patients, as with my father (http://blognbutter.com/cancer/2008/03/06/rhabdomyosarcoma-help-fight-it-inform-others), who have rare types of cancer on which they may not do research, or who have been given the “final timeline” for their disease…They will try anything…Often times, the doctors have pulled any and all treatments are reduced or stopped and have sent the patient home praying for a final miracle…
If I can, in some way, provide ANYTHING that may help them, I will!!! Best believe it…even if it may step on some toes…It’s not about them, it’s about the cancer patients and their health…If that makes me irresponsible…so be it!
Beyond a measure of doubt, I completely understand the fear, depression, pain, confusion and anger at a patient’s diagnosis…I’ve been caregiver to both of my parents during these battles…day in and day out…through EVERYTHING…
This cancer blog is a service from my heart to help provide some experience, knowledge, new findings and possibly hope to cancer patients…I hope people see and appreciate it in that light…
Thank you for reading and participating!

I’ve read Kevin’s book and gone through the articles related to the University of Alberta researcher’s statements about dichloroacetate (DCA).
He states: “as DCA is not patented, Michelakis is concerned that it may be difficult to find funding from private investors to test DCA in clinical trials.”
Not only is not patented, but it cannot be patented. Therefore the researchers are not optimistic about receiving funding for further research or to bring this to market.
Is that paranoid? Sounds like fact to me.
Sure Trudeau’s book is full or weird and wonderful things and he tries to make you buy more stuff and information from him, but I don’t think his notions about the drug industry are so far off as to not contain at least a grain of truth.
As I understand it, blog postings are a forum where people can communicate and share their thoughts and experiences. Personally, I welcome this freedom. The reader is in a position of power, where, if they don’t approve of the material presented, or if they don’t agree with it, or if they don’t like what they see on a particular site, or find the information to be morally objectionable, they have the option to leave the site. In this sense, it is like the choice you have when you don’t like what you see on a particular TV channel, you change the channel; when you don’t like the station on your radio, you change the station; when you find mail on your computer that you find unsuitable or objectionable, you direct it to SPAM and you don’t have to deal with these matters any more.
I think “Deg” had a bad day. I am taken aback by the vehement attack he launched against the blogger in this case, who simply presented a printed interview in a campus newspaper (University of Southern Mississippi. I don’t feel that a “Blogger” is under any obligation to present an analysis or their personal feelings about any subject. To me it looks like there was encouragement to readers for discussion, and welcoming input and comments. This blogger doesn’t look to me like they are being dismissive of the efforts by committed, intelligent scientists and researchers. In fact, the message I get is quite the opposite and, being a
regular to this site, I find their track record on this site to be one where they welcoming positive and productive discussion.
Enough of that. I am a cancer patient who does not yet know if I am cancer free, with a husband and a sister who died of cancer after faithfully using all the doctor advised treatments. Many errors were made with regard to their treatments. I can attest to the fact that many of us cancer patients live in fear that their cancer will return, and that, perhaps everything that can be done, has not been done. We welcome the opportunity to read as much information as possible regarding potential treatments and cures, whether they involve the many natural alternatives, or are the result of prolonged research by dedicated scientists, or a combination of the two. What I resent are the stoic people who lecture and harass about their own self importance and opinions, and treat us as though we don’t have the mental capability to make reasonable, educated decisions.
By now, having taken all the prescribed treatments offered by doctors, it is refreshing and comforting to know that there are natural options that can make my life easier, without the debilitating side effects I have endured. Deg is very mislead if he thinks that any patient would impulsively accept any treatment without doing their own research and analysis. We are free to reach our own conclusions and make our own decisions and what path we decide to follow. Any information offered by a blogger, without their own personal input and experience, would only be a small part of our informational base. There is so much more to consider and worrying about how much money an author might make on a book, is not one of those things.
A REBEL NAMED CANCER
A CANCER CELL IS LIKE AN ARROGANT,”NOBODY GONNA TELL ME ANYTHING” HUMAN. Those individuals seldom achieve any goals–never learned to communicate and cooperate with those around them…
….a cancer molecule stops cooperating with its friend and neighbor cells… goes “rebel” does its own thing and begins to grow arrogantly so as to “take over the entire organism. In military he would be called “rebel”– in Biblical terms would be called “Jezebel” and in politics would be called “traitor” considers only itself not the “good of the whole”— like all these other metaphors, the biggest and most effective hope of of conquering is contain it when it is small….Arrogance in all things of nature leads to Anarchy…..
Sounds interesting; however, I will have to research more into it. I am not sure that I believe that most forms of cancer can be cured due to the simple facts that one: people keep abusing their bodies which causes the breakdown of the body to function properly to fight off such sicknesses and two all of the varied toxins that we pollute our air with that is continually breaking down the bodies ability to fight disease. So, more research over the long term and testing. In the short run - it sounds good.
My stumble upon friend, NedReck, says:
“Hmm…After having spent numerous sleepless nights, passing the time watching infomercials, many of them with this guy, Kevin, I have a somewhat suspicious attitude towards his goals and motives. Let’s just say, I hope for the sake of those who desperately reach for any saving grace in their battle against cancer and other death threatening conditions, that he is honest.”
Thanks for the great comment!

“I don’t see why there should be a heated conversation about this. Studies should be conducted, trials should be run, and if it works, then let people have it. I think a lot of people have been conditioned to believe that if something doesn’t come from a large corporation or if they don’t hear about through the mass media, that somehow it is not legitimate.”

If you do some research on Kevin Trudeau, you may not feel as strongly about things he claims…
If I told my wife once, I told her 100 times, if an inexpensive cure for cancer was discovered today it would never see the light of day. Here’s the proof.
It seems to me that pharmaceutical companies and many doctors are more interested in maintaining their “power” than they are in curing illness.
