Be sensitive to people going through chemotherapy and other cancer treatments. We heard of the chemo fog before, but actually experienced it with my mother.
Now, chemo fog is actually how they describe the fact that many cancer patients undergoing or who have undergone treatment actually lose blocks of memory, or find it extremely difficult to concentrate on anything.
My mom had 2 surgeries, underwent 5 out of 8 chemotherapy treatments, radiation and a 1 yr long Herceptin treatment.
My mother actually has lost entire blocks of time from her memory bank.
Most of the movies we watched during the entire treatment time, she has completely forgotten and can enjoy them fully for “the first time” again!
So many incidents that occurred during that time in our lives, friends and other family member’s lives, was missed.
Not a day goes by where she tells me she doesn’t remember that, or I am filling her in on something that occurred.
However, she is 2 yrs cancer free now, and I would rather have her memory fail slightly than to have lost her completely!
Praise the Lord she survived treatments and is cancer free TODAY!
