If you’re looking for a pre-paid cell phone service, then Metro PCS might be the way to go.

They’re based out of Dallas/Fort-Worth and when you get your service, you can call anyone in the United States for free, as long as you are actually in the Dallas Metroplex.

You can travel with your phone and pre-pay for roaming minutes, but it’s extra and must be activated before you leave the Dallas Metroplex…you can’t start it after you’ve left the area.

This phone does not work in Canada, as far as we know, but most Texans aren’t regularly traveling to see our Northern neighbors like we do.

However, Metro PCS has a plan where you can pay for unlimited United States, Canada and Mexico service.

They are very flexible, but beware…If you don’t pay your bill on time, they will cut you off that day.

They will also reconnect you within minutes when you finally do pay…just be aware - they aren’t like Bell Mobility, T-Mobile or Sprint where they’ll keep you connected for a few more days or weeks until you pay your bill.

Sometimes, we have dropped calls, more so on international calls, but really, we’re only paying $50.00/month for unlimited calls within the US, unlimited texting, voice-mail, and internet on our pre-paid plan with them.

All in all, it’s a great deal and we’re pretty happy with where we are for cell phone service in Dallas.
