Okay, so I was having a few drinks with some friends in the lounge at an upscale restaurant in Toronto and happened to see one of my favorite celebs eating with some friends. I thought it would be too intrusive to go over and meet her to ask for her autograph or something, so we just watched every move she made…

As her and her entourage got up to leave, I noticed that she dropped her wallet…Of course, I got up to pick it up and hopefully return it to her. By the time I got the wallet, she was whisked off by her bodyguards into her car waiting outside, and she was nowhere to be found…

What To Look For In A Credit Card
By Jeffrey Altmire

When you are deciding what type of credit card to get it is important to compare credit cards to each other and find the best deal for you. There are a variety of different credit cards available, from low interest cards, cash back cards and even reward credit cards, it’s hard to decide what exactly the best credit cards are.

The best credit cards are generally going to have a few things in common. The first thing, being a low interest rate. Low interest cards can save you money over time, by not requiring you to pay large amounts of interest on your purchases. Some of the best credit cards in addition to offering a low interest rate will be reward credit cards. Reward credit card will give the user some sort of incentive for choosing their card to make a purchase rather than another. Rewards can vary from cash back to gift certificates at your favorite department store. Some cards will even offer actual merchandise or trips as rewards for using the card.

Compare different offers you receive for credit cards in the mail, and look for the credit card offer which is giving you the most perks for the least amount of money. Be sure to pay special attention to any membership or annual fees that the card may charge. Often credit cards with fantastic rewards will come at fantastic prices.

For most Americans, credit card debt is a dangerous and growing problem. The average American family has more than $8000.00 in credit card debt and spends more than they earn on a annual basis. Credit cards can be useful tools when they used properly, but more and more Americans are getting in over their heads and threatening their financial futures. It is important to realize that just because you can pay your minimum payments each month doesn’t mean you don’t have a credit problem. Low minimum payments benefit the credit card company, not the consumer.

The following are some of the warning signs that you have credit or debt problems:

* You are unable to put any money in savings

* You make only the minimum payments on your credit cards

* You use increasing amounts of your total income to pay off your credit card debts

* You use credit cards for things you should buy with cash, such as groceries

*You have more than two or three major credit cards and have balances on all of them

* You’re at or near your credit limit on most if not all of your credit cards

* You’re unsure of the total amount you owe on your credit cards

* You’ve taken out cash advances on credit card to pay other bills

* You’ve been denied credit due to your debt to income ratio

* You get calls from collectors about your credit cards

A joint application credit card is simply a credit card that allows two people to use it. It typically works as follows: An individual completes a credit card application and then requests an additional card.

The other card or cards will have that second persons name on it, but will have the same account number assigned to it. Probably the most common example of this is a husband and wife.

In many cases married people have joint financial accounts for such things as savings, checking and investment portfolios. It greatly simplifies the management of finances. Another common reason for filling out a joint application credit card is a parent wanting to assist their child in establishing credit.

In a way it is similar to them cosigning an auto loan. This is often done when the child goes away to college. The advantage here is that the parent can keep an eye on all the activity generated by the student. Now here are some important points that you must understand before applying for a joint credit card.

The debt acquired by one of the cardholders is also the responsibility of the other cardholder. In other words, if your husband runs up a $3000 debt on the card and you should happen to become separated, simply stating that it is his debt and you are not liable for it isn’t going to relieve you of that debt.

As long as your name is still on the card, you will be held responsible for any and all debts accrued. The way to stop this is to pay off the debt in full and cancel the card so there can be no further purchases made with it. Canceling a joint credit card can be done by a single party, as long as the account is free of outstanding debt.

The information I have given here is only a cursory look at the joint application credit card. Be sure to read the terms of service and conditions of the credit card issuer carefully and do not hesitate to directly contact the credit card company with any specific questions that you may have.

As A financial adviser, Morgan Hamilton dispenses helpful information and valuable tips pertaining to the credit card industry including how to get a Joint Application Credit Card Responsibly using
Joint Application Credit Cards can be a great way for two people to access a single credit card account.
Life happens with pitfalls. People don’t plan on losing their jobs or becoming ill, but it does happen and if I had a choice between eating, paying rent, or paying my credit card bill, guess which one is going to lose out, and then there goes my credit from excellent to good to bad to poor.

In my experience there are two types of Bad Credit Credit Cards. One is a secured card, and the other has a much higher rate of interest. Both can be used to rebuild your credit worthyness after getting back on your feet.

Secured credit cards are great for rebuilding your credit. You send the credit card company a pre deposit amount set by the company. This amount will be equal to your credit limit. Pay over your minimum every month and send your payment in before the due date and you will build your credit up gradually. Never miss a payment, be late on a payment, or go over your credit limit even by a small amount.

You don’t want the company to ever have to take from your pre deposit amount because they want you to handle your account just like you would an unsecured card. A great thing about this pre deposit amount that you send in is it can act as a savings account even earning a little bit of interest for you. After establishing yourself with the credit card company, they may decide to give you a unsecured credit card or increase the limit on the one you have with them without having to make another deposit. Secured credit cards are a good choice for anyone wishing to rebuild their credit history.

There are also some companies that will give you a card for the main purpose of rebuilding your credit. A lot of these will come in the mail. These credit card companies usually have a high rate of interest, or annual fees, or application fees, or all three. Do your research on the ones you are interested in. Make sure it is something that won’t put a burden on you to pay back, because you want to rebuild credit and eventually get a better rate of interest later on.

Both of these types of Bad Credit Credit Cards will report to the credit bureaus on a regular basis and will help you to reestablish yourself in the eyes of the creditors.

Remember you might have to pay more interest at first, but as your credit greatly improves, so will your interest rates. Rebuilding credit worthyness takes a little bit of time and patience, but is well worth it.

Some people get in trouble with credit cards because they don’t completely understand how the card is supposed to work. They only know that a piece of plastic comes in the mail that they can use it in stores and pay the bill later. Knowing how credit cards work can assist you use them sensibly.

Credit card companies make money when you pay them interest. The company determines the sum of interest you pay each month by using the annual percentage rage, or APR. A fixed APR doesn’t vary much over time. Should your credit card company change the APR, they must inform you before it is enlarged. The variable APR can alter from time to time. You can find out which kind of APR you have by reading your credit card application.

The grace period is the number of days that you can pay off your credit card balance without getting a finance charge. Most of the time, the grace period only applies to new transactions. If you already have a balance on your credit card, new purchases will not have a grace period. Your grace period is usually written on your credit card report.

Your credit card may have certain fees linked to it. The yearly fee is a fee you must pay for having the credit card. The late-payment fee is incurred when your payment is received after the due date. If you get a cash advance you can be charged a fee that is either a flat fee or a percentage of your cash advance. A fee is incurred when you transfer a balance from another credit card. Should you go over your credit limit you will be charged an over-the-credit-limit fee.

Some credit card companies offer incentives for using their credit card. The most common incentive is a refund on the purchases you have made. This refund is sometimes is made by check or as a credit to your account. Frequent flier miles, car rental insurance, and travel accident insurance are some other offers.

With the advent of the Internet, almost everything has been rendered deliverable with digital speed.

You could order items online, for example, and the same would be shipped to your doorsteps the next day. You could pay your bills through online channels as well.

And most definitely, you could apply for a credit card online, a process that gave birth to a tag for the cards acquired as such: online credit cards.

Clarifying The Term “Online Credit Cards”

The term “online credit cards” would be a little confusing for most. It shouldn’t be taken to mean that one would be able to procure online credit.

Only the application and the usage are referred to by the term “online credit cards” because the same can be applied for on the Internet, and correspondingly, can be used for transactions in the World Wide Web.

Applying For Online Credit Cards

Everything that is needed for conventional application for a credit card can also be done online. The requirements can be submitted digitally, and the online credit cards, once they are approved for distribution, can be delivered to the successful applicants.

These online credit cards are made accessible to the general masses because of such a convenient process. People can now avail of online credit cards without leaving the comforts of their own homes.

There are a lot of establishments on the Internet who offer online credit cards for anyone who is interested and who is qualified to be extended such a credit. A quick search on any of the search engines on the web would reveal a great number of these online credit card companies. It’s just a matter of doing your own due diligence and choosing the right online credit card which is perfect for your needs.

Using Online Credit Cards

The rule is simple: you cannot do business over the Internet without online credit cards.

Digital transactions would need a manner by which money can be conveyed digitally as well. Online credit cards have specified numbers and particular details. You would only have to type these in to be able to pay for goods or services procured in the World Wide Web.

The problem with online credit cards and their usage has always been about security. In the earlier years of the Internet, the details in many online credit cards have been hacked. As a result, the thieves would be able to use the accounts of the said online credit cards for their own purposes.

Thankfully, modern advances in the World Wide Web have effectively curtailed this problem.

Secured Socket Layers (SSL) with 128 bit and 256 bit encryptions have been introduced to guarantee the safety of the use of online credit cards over the Internet.

To determine whether a website is fit and safe to accommodate online credit cards, simply check if it makes use of SSL.

This can be determined by the appearance of a padlock icon on the lower right screen of your browser window. If the website has such an icon, you could rest assured that online credit cards would be protected.
