What guy doesn’t feel like a man when building a fire, barbecuing, welding with a blow torch or just using fire for any reason?

Men love the outdoors and what better way can you encourage him and his primal instincts, than to accentuate your backyard with patio torches for him?

It evokes images of cavemen, knights or island castaways, doesn’t it?

My hubby loves to entertain our friends while he creates a fabulous BBQ meal, and we love to enjoy our outdoor space at our home.

This would be a marvelous gift for him, especially since we went to a surprise birthday party this past week for a good friend and his girlfriend had beautiful garden torches ablaze while we were there on their balcony…

…Kenney spent the entire night outside with our friend Aaron enjoying the ambiance of those torches.

If your man is anything like mine, for whatever reason, he is constantly being bit by mosquitoes outside. In fact, it often ruins our time we spend trying to enjoy outside. He has to go in because he’s being eaten alive…I guess, he must have some sweet blood or something.

We’re constantly trying to buy citronella candles and organic bug spray for him to have a good time outdoors. However, I found an amazing patio torch latern from Outdora that uses citronella fuel. Since it has more than one flame (4), it will certainly be more effective than a single torch.

The wicks never get worn out  because they’re made of fiberglass (great idea) and I love it because it matches our coach lights on our property! Doesn’t it look like a turn-of-the-century, Victorian gas street lamp. So beautiful, and functional. (Guys love functional gifts!)

I think I’m going to buy this for him for his birthday this year…Certainly, he’ll install it right by the barbecue. However, you can also use standard lamp oil too, instead of citronella, if you want.

* Tip: Since our guys are so “manly”, you may want to call them patio torches instead of garden torches, though…LOL

If your guy is a football fan, and they aren’t already subscribing to either of these…

Get them the NFL Sunday Ticket so they can watch all the NFL games their little heart desires…

…or the ESPN RedZone - they’ll get to see how each and every touchdown is scored and any plays in the Red Zone - ladies, that’s any play that’s inside the 20 yard mark.

They just keep switching from game to game whenever a team is in the Red Zone! Cool Right?

When I asked my hubby what he’d like right now for a present, these are the 2 guy presents that immediately came out of his head! LOL…A pretty safe bet if your man is into Football!

That may sound funny, but guys take it very seriously when it comes to making fires, BBQ and the like.

If you want to make your man’s day, buy him an outdoor fire pit!

…What, with the crackling of the fire, dancing flames, smell of sweet success of that awesome hardwood smoke, the heat it provides for his family and guests…

I looked at some of the choices of outdoor fire pits online at Outdora. They even have such things as “fire rings” that have grills on top of them too. Not only can you heat yourself by the fire, but you can cook tasty tidbits while you’re at it? Awesome!

However, let’s not completely discount the fact that men can also be very romantic too.  Imagine spending a romantic evening on your patio or by the pool with your sweetheart by an open outdoor fire pit!

This fire “table” can also be used to dine at like a table - extremely cozy.

Also, if you’re having people over, it’s great for serving the warm snacks on. Fire pits just add so much ambiance - it can completely change the mood of a party or get-together.

While you’re at it, don’t forget to grab yourself some “Fat Wood Fire Starters” because guys are known to get a little frustrated and that could possibly ruin a romantic evening.

These fire starters will get your fire started easily and keep it going. They are so handy and my hubby thinks they’re phenomenal. Fat Wood works especially well, even if your wood is slightly damp or you forgot to soak your wood in lighter fluid.

You can enjoy it all year round, especially if you grab a cover for bad weather.

Have everything ready and prepared for him and surprise him with your thoughtful gift you can enjoy for a very long time!

Usually, a great bet is an action or fighting movie! This is a good one you might consider for him:

Not only does it have “Stone Cold” Steve Austin - a professional wrestler in it - all it is is a whole bunch of fighting! LOL…Guys are guys - they can’t help it! LOL…

Oh yeah, and do them a favor - watch it with them! Even if it’s not your kind of movie, do it for them…You never know, they might be first onboard to take you to watch “New Moon” if you do!

Now, that doesn’t mean you have to buy it - you can simply rent it and spend some time with him - Check out the Redbox for cheap movie rentals!

We all need to get out of the “Stone Age”.

Guys: You’re allowed to like flowers…they’re beautiful, smell good, and are a thoughtful sentiment. They make you smile!

Girls: Don’t think you’re the only ones worthy of receiving flowers. Seriously! Men can appreciate beauty…just think, he appreciates your beauty, right?

Now, give a man some Valentine’s Day flowers and see his face light up…He can’t help but smile…

…and that doesn’t mean you have to give them “manly” flower arrangements with brown, or orange flowers, or big, old sunflowers either! It doesn’t mean you have to buy a “plant”!

Men wear pink and purple these days in dress shirts, polos, ties, socks, pink gold on their jewelry…

Men like to know you love them or that you think they’re sexy. Even though you’re giving roses to a man, the colors of roses still apply when it comes to meaning.

If you think this is a stretch for your sweetheart, but you still want to get flowers for them, give them to him in private, or have them delivered to his office, instead of in the middle of a board meeting.

I believe this still holds true. My hubby is so happy when I make a special dinner just for him, or make his favorite!

He’s in great spirits and feels special himself!

What’s a better gift for someone than something that could be used for their hobby.

For instance, even if you don’t like it, if you’re husband plays video games, maybe you could get him a new wireless controller.

If he’s a handyman-type and enjoys working around the house on home improvements, maybe you could get him some really neat new drill, or a specialized tool for a project he’s really been wanting to take on.

Maybe, as in my hubby’s case, since we do a lot of real estate investing in Texas, an easy-to-use Spanish course on CD would be a great thing…which I happened to get him for Christmas…LOL…

Maybe they’re a stamp or coin collector, a golfer, a bowler or an artist.

If they’re into cooking and they’re a “foodie”, maybe you could get them some amazing extra virgin olive oil in a beautiful bottle, or some aged balsamic vinegar. You can check out Cool Foodie Gifts on my Cooking site that are fun too!

Basically, it shows them that you take interest in what they like to do, even if you don’t participate in this activity with them. It shows you care and think what they do is important or neat, or makes them unique!
