Well, I was not sure what to think about these salt lamps before I did some research on them. Sure, they are interesting, natural and beautiful, but what else?
Basically, they are special salts that are mined in the Himalaya, as well as areas of Persia and Poland, which is rarer, and are said to be mined in an ecologically responsible manner.
They supposedly emit Negative Ions that help reduce severe allergies, sinus, depression, migraine, fatigue, ADHD and odor.
The lamps are said to clean the air of dust and pollen, which would seriously benefits asthmatics, people with lung illnesses and allergy sufferers.
Furthermore, they are good for improving learning, memory and emotional well being by the creation of balance in ions in the air.
Even though they are odorless, people have reported to feel a difference in the air. The feeling, when the lamps are lit up, is like the air after a good rain, mainly due to the creation of negative ions, just as the rain does.
They are pretty all by themselves, but when they are lit up, they produce a beautiful, peaceful, warm glow!
They come in a variety of colors. The Himalayan salt rocks have oranges from copper, reds from iron, and yellows from magnesium in the rocks, often in combination in 1 chunk of salt rock.
The Persian variety have colors of fuschia, magenta, lavender, purple and sometimes shades of white, and can even be found in the same chunk of salt at 1 time.
Polish salt chunks tend to be of orange and amber hues.
Since they are natural and decorative, they seem to be perfect around the home as accents, which also offset harmful radiation from computers, TV, and microwave ovens.
It is also said that they are good to reduce the problem of smoke, if someone in the home is a smoker.
My mother is actually going to buy this one, so she can try it out (You can purchase one too by clicking on the product below):
