Dryer balls are the new hotness in laundry!
Why?
Because they are non-toxic.
What do you mean? Dryer Sheets are toxic?
Unless they say they aren’t, they are! So, yes, they are!
Sheets have chemicals and fragrances in them, which get all over your clothing, towels, sheets, etc.
Recently, I just started to have a sensitivity to something in our dryer sheets, I deduced. So, I stopped using them, and my problems went away.
The only time you are not surrounded in chemicals, is when you’re naked. Even in bed, you are surrounded by your blankets and sheets, all with those same chemicals. In fact, when you get out of the shower, you are surrounding yourself with those chemicals on the towels.
These new dryer balls fluff up your laundry in the dryer to allow for more movement and air to get into your washables.
Not only that, dryer balls can be used over and over again, for years! They are rugged and durable.
If you use dryer sheets, beware of fires!
Are you kidding?
I am not kidding. I saw a safety spot on the news one night explaining that dryer fires are mostly caused by dryer sheets. Not directly, but the chemicals they leave in your lint filter accumulate and block air from getting through the mesh.
Do This Experiment For Yourself!
Take your dryer filter out, clean the lint out, and then run water in the pocket. What you will see will shock you.
You’ll see that the chemicals clog the pores of the filter to the point that water won’t pass through the mesh! I am not kidding. I tried it with ours.
So, if you use dryer sheets, you need to clean your filter with a brush, soap and hot water and scrub that accumulation away!
Not only is it dangerous, but it makes your dryer less efficient and more prone to breaking down, as explained by machine repair-people.
Environmental Implications:
Dryer balls are environmentally friendly. Dryer sheets have all of those chemicals, which eventually end up in the environment, and although sheets are only tiny when you throw them in the garbage, think about the waste in garbage dumps over so many years from every home in your country.
That will really add up, not to mention the packaging that goes into the boxes they come in.
My Suggestion:
Purchase some dryer balls and use them instead of dryer sheets. They’re better for you, for your family, for your dryer and the environment too! By the way, I prefer using 4 dyer balls for better performance.
